Over the summer, we welcomed two new board members to our table. Hawzien Gebremedhin (House-in Geb-ree-med-heen), and Tom Brewster.
Hawzien came to us through our philanthropic friends at First Bank. Hawzien, and her family, came to America as a refugee from Ethiopia when she was 2 years old. Her parents were amazing role models in the promise of success through hard work and determination. Hawzien graduated from HS, worked her way through college and then worked her way up from a First Bank teller to her current role as a Banking Officer. Hawzien feels passionately about empowering women with the skills they need to be successful in live. We are very excited to have her joining us and in furthering that piece of our mission.
Tom Brewster is probably the most familiar name to you. He is the founder of Addiction Research and Treatment Services (ARTS) the umbrella organization of Peer One, The Haven, Synergy, and Outpatient Treatment Services. . Tom’s illustrious career is the example of determination, collaboration, and partnerships. We are eager to learn from him.
In August, our Vice President, Joan Manning, announced her resignation from the board. She and, her recently retired (or semi-retired) husband are going to live it up traveling and visiting family. We are so excited for Joan and Kevin AND we know she will be helping to promote Friends of the Haven and working with the clients as she has time.
