Our Newest Partner!

Thursday, November 12th, 2015

We are excited to announce Friends of the Haven has recently partnered with arc Thrift Stores!   arc Thrift is one of the largest integrated employers of people with disabilities in the State of Colorado, employing over 150 individuals with disabilities and operating 23 arc Thrift Stores along the Front Range. Arc thrift

In this reciprocal partnership, you can be sure that your gently used donations will continue to support the Friends of the Haven’s mission of helping Haven clients to stay on the path to recovery and arc Thrift can support their mission to help people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.

Your in-kind donations will first go to the Haven clients and when there is surplus of in-kind donations, arc will arrange for a donation pick up here at the Baby Haven.  In turn arc Thrift will provide the Friends of the Haven with inkind3store vouchers that will enable clients of the Haven to acquire basic needs items found in arc Thrift Stores.

Please note that we will begin accepting your donations every Wednesday from 10 -2p, or by appointment with Crissey McNally or Toni Wright.  Thank you for continuing to support women and children at The Haven through this amazing   partnership.

Your Board of Directors

Thursday, November 12th, 2015

Over the summer, we welcomed two new board members to our table. Hawzien Gebremedhin (House-in Geb-ree-med-heen), and Tom Brewster.

FB Headshot hawzienHawzien came to us through our philanthropic friends at First Bank.  Hawzien, and her family, came to America as a refugee from Ethiopia when she was 2 years old.  Her parents were amazing role models in the promise of success through hard work and determination.  Hawzien graduated from HS, worked her way through college and then worked her way up from a First Bank teller to her current role as a Banking Officer.  Hawzien feels passionately about empowering women with the skills they need to be successful in live.  We are very excited to have her joining us and in furthering that piece of our mission.

Tom's headshotTom Brewster is probably the most familiar name to you.  He is the founder of Addiction   Research and Treatment Services (ARTS) the umbrella organization of Peer One, The Haven, Synergy, and Outpatient Treatment Services. .  Tom’s illustrious career is the example of determination, collaboration, and partnerships.  We are eager to learn from him.

joanIn August, our Vice President, Joan Manning, announced her resignation from the board.  She and, her recently retired (or semi-retired) husband are going to live it up traveling and visiting family.  We are so excited for Joan and Kevin AND we know she will be helping to promote Friends of the Haven and working with the clients as she has time.
